Our History

“There are no coincidences, only signs of alignment.” – The Karma Yogi

Both Charlie and Jason share a love of the built environment. More specifically, for beautifully executed solutions. They first crossed paths playing traditional roles: Charlie as the architect and Jason as the contractor on a complicated private school renovation. They immediately left impressions on one another: Jason as a collaborative problem solver; Charlie as a creative and passionate innovator. A mutual admiration was born and conversations soon followed of a shared vision for a better way of serving clients – where the architect and contractor are truly one entity.

In the spring of 2015 Capstone Design + Build was formed.  Capstone’s first headquarters was a modest space (a converted commercial boiler room) on the North side of Lancaster City, which Charlie was already using as his architectural office.  Jason’s first desk space was “The Ink Vault,” which ironically had a 5’-6” brick arched doorway.

Capstone’s first construction project was also modest: a conversion of an attic space into a bedroom. Larger projects followed and word travelled fast. Capstone soon outgrew their space and relocated to a much larger studio space in downtown Lancaster in 2018. The team has also been steadily growing – mainly by word of mouth. Jason and Charlie are truly grateful for the opportunities that continue to come their way, for the team members that lend their passion and skills to each project, and for the clients (many of them repeat) who trust them to focus and execute their vision. Many more rewarding years are ahead!

Meet The Team

Jason Binkley

Chief Builder, Founder

I am a proud Lancaster native, though I spent a few transformative years in Colorado after graduating from Penn State (miss those mountains!). I am blessed to do what I love, to work with passionate people, and to serve such a vibrant community.  I am grateful for all the outstanding mentors that have guided me along my journey – I wouldn’t be here without you.  When not practicing architecture, I am spending time with my family, hiking with my dogs, playing guitar, serving Habitat for Humanity, or working on my house.

Charles Yohe, AIA, NCARB

Chief Architect, Founder

My role at Capstone is to make sure the office runs smoothly so the rest of the team can focus on our customers. I’ve spent my career in accounting & finance. I’m originally from Miami but traded the beaches for the mid-Atlantic with my wife, eventually giving into her Lancaster roots. My main focus is our three children, supporting sports, coaching baseball, and exploring together. I’m a collector of concert/art prints, vinyl records, and anything else that might pique my interest.
